Chafing fuel is available in two different forms, liquid fuel (often referred to as wick fuel) and gel fuel. Liquid fuel will only ignite when a wick is present, making it very safe if accidently knocked over or if any liquid is spilled. Many of the wick fuels are supplied in a tin that will not get hot even after extended use; this type of fuel can be extinguished and re-used until it runs out.
